Hybrid vehicles : New Subaru new car 2009

Hybrid vehicles
by David Odell

Hybrid electric vehicles are automobiles which make use of a combination of conventional propulsion systems and rechargeable energy storage systems (RESS). The purpose for combining these two different power sources is to achieve improved fuel economy in hybrid electric vehicles compared to the conventional cars and trucks. Moreover hybrid electric vehicles incorporate propulsion systems in addition to the electric motors, in order not to be hampered by charging units the way it happens with battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
Modern times have seen the mass production of hybrid electric vehicles coming from a number of well known car manufacturers. The reasons why many car producers jump on the green bandwagon are varied. Whether there is a genuine interest in saving energy and not using the planet's energetic sources, or a smart and "caring" way to attract buyers and thus sell more cars, one cannot be certain. There are three main ways that allow current hybrid electric vehicles to reduce gas consume. First, they lower the amount of wasted energy during idle or low input (turning off the ICE); secondly, they collect waste energy (regenerative braking), and thirdly, they reduce the size and power of the ICE and inefficiencies generated by under-utilization.
The modern mass-produced hybrid electric vehicles are able to prolong the charges on their batteries simply through collecting the kinetic energy via the regenerative braking system. Some hybrid electric vehicles use the internal combustion engine (ICE) to create electricity by spinning an electrical generator (quite often this is a motor-generator) to directly supply the electric motor that drives the vehicle or to recharge the battery. Many of the existing hybrid electric vehicles' capability is to reduce idle emissions by shutting down the internal combustion engine at idle status and restarting it when necessary (this is a start-stop system). The engines of the hybrid electric vehicles are smaller than those of non-hybrid petroleum fuel vehicles. These engines may function at various speeds, thus bringing more efficiency.
The making of the hybrid electric vehicles started in the late 1990s and the first ones came from Honda (Honda Insight) and Toyota (Toyota Prius). Even since beginnings of hybrid electric vehicles they have become widely available to the buyers. The future of hybrid electric vehicles is definitely bright, and this is the forecast by some automobile makers who consider hybrid electric vehicles a core segment of the automotive market of the future.

Subaru Takes Lead At Rally of Finland : New Subaru new car review 2009

Subaru Takes Lead At Rally of Finland
by Anthony Fontanelle

Currently third place in the manufacturer's championship at the ongoing World Rally Championship, Subaru is looking to catch up with Ford and Citroen in the standings. Ford currently sits at the top of the leader board with 114 points after eight events while Citroen has 86 points. Subaru has only recorded 43 points so far. Initially, the team fielded two cars in the championship but added a third car in mid season.
The team's quest to bring back the glory days of the Japanese team in the sport recently gained a foothold after a Subaru driver took the lead in the opening stage of the Rally of Finland. Chris Atkinson in his Subaru Impreza posted the fastest time in the super-special stage of the event.
The Australian Atkinson posted the best time of 1 minute and 20.6 seconds over the 2.06 kilometer opening stage. Another Subaru driver in Petter Solberg finished in the top five. Solberg's time is 0.7 seconds slower than Atkinson's. Solberg placed fifth in the opening stage. Meanwhile, Xevi Pons, Subaru's third driver, finished just outside of the top ten for he was one second slower than the tenth placer Juho Haninnen on a Mitsubishi Lancer.
Obviously, Atkinson is pleased with his car's performance at the opening stage of the event. But in the first leg of the event, he only placed fourth. Nevertheless, Atkinson is still elated with his fourth place achievement on the first leg of the event. "I'm happy with what we've achieved today. Fourth overall is a good place to be at the end of leg one here in Finland - especially as I've only driven this rally three times before," said the Australian.
With his car still undergoing improvements, Atkinson is confident that they will have a better performance for the remainder of the season. "I know there are still improvements to come with our car, but you can see from the speed we've had today that we're not very far away, which is encouraging. I'm feeling very positive about this event now, as for tomorrow we'll just have to see. We'll try our best, that's all I can say," he claimed.
Fellow Subaru driver Solberg is also pleased with the performance of their cars. Subaru fields Subaru Imprezas this season with racing parts such as Subaru oil filter designed to meet the demand of the sport on the cars.
"We ended the day 100 times better than we started it, that's for sure!" enthused Solberg. "Things turned around for us after the first service and since then we've been able to push a lot harder than earlier when it felt like we only had a two-wheel-drive car. Fifth overall is a good result considering the start we had, and I think there is still a lot of potential for improvement over the next two days."
At the start of the season, Subaru was struggling to get points and Ford and Citroen drivers have been plucking points easily. The improvements on their cars are now enabling Subaru drivers to mount resurgence. Even Pons who is participating in his first event this season is pleased with their cars' performance.
"I am really pleased with the way today has gone," the Spaniard said. "The more time I spend in the car the more comfortable with it I become and the more speed I know I will find. For me, it is great to be a part of the Subaru World Rally Team and I am looking forward to the rest of the weekend," Pons concluded.

Drive Car Using Water : New Subaru hybrid water cars 2009

Drive Car Using Water
by Zouking

1. Slow down your speed
As stated above, slow down your driving speed. Everyone knows this, but not many uses it. Well, it is a proven fact that dragging your engine will increase your fuel consumption rate. It is your choice to decide what speed you want to travel at.

2. Close Your window

Open your window when driving will increase the turbulence in your car and eventually your car will need more fuel to move. use the build in ventilation instead.

3. Plan your route

Try to plan your route before you head off. A route with more traffic light and heavy traffic is always not a good idea. The shortest route however may not be the best route if you are required to stop a lot. Try to avoid route that have a lot of high gradient slope or uneven road.

4. Top up your tank at Arco

Well, this is my personal comment. Every year, other major petrol company are making millions and millions or profit from us driver. They keep on advertising their new product such as Techron, V-power which they put in expensive stuff into them to order sell them at a higher price. In fact, all the petrol as basically the same, just that they claim their petrol have a cleaner burning combustion and better fuel efficiency. I am getting my top up at Acro at the moment and I never had any trouble with their quality.

But I sometimes do go to Chevron for a top up as well. I will put in exactly 8 gallons into my tank in order to qualify for a discount at the car wash section.

Another tips is when I traveling on the road, I try to keep note of the petrol price along the way. If I happen to see the price goes down, I may consider topping up. Some petrol station does offer a free cup of coffee with a fill up.

Manual transmission is great. I strongly encourage everyone to try using it. By using manual transmission, you can pretty much decide if you want a sport shifting at a higher rounds per minute (rpm) or a fuel efficiency shifting at a lower rpm. No matter how 'clever' the car claimed to be, it is never more clever than a human head.

If you are already driving a manual transmission now, and wish to save some fuel as well. Remember this golden rule, shift up early, shift down late.

5. Disable that cruise control

If you have the cruise control and the road is clear ahead, by all means use the cruise control. It will keep your speed constant, thus there is no need for you to accelerate. But if the road is not clear, you will be wasting a lot of fuel. Remember to use that overdrive function. It helps to keep your rpm low. Go into neutral gear when your car is standing still, to reduce and cool off the transmission.

6. Reduce your car overall weight

Another law of physics. You should try to remove those junk at the boot of your car. But keep the spare tire and other gears. You never know when you will need them.

7. Turn off your engine.

Even when your car is not moving, it is still using your fuel. If your air con is on, it takes up even more fuel. So if you know that you will be in the spot for more then 5 minutes, consider switching off the engine.

Cars With Best Fuel Economy For The Price : New Subaru new cars 2009

Cars With Best Fuel Economy For The Price
by Dale Martin
Tired of paying $90 dollars to fill up that big SUV or pickup truck each week? Want to buy the most fuel efficient vehicle possible for each dollar you spend? Consumer Reports has compiled a list of the most fuel efficient vehicles in what each car will cost per gallon. The key to buying a fuel efficient car is to make every dollar count. To come up with the lowest priced car per gallon they divided the overall mpg by the price paid for the vehicle. They limited their list to highly rated cars in terms of customer satisfaction and low-cost repairs over the first five years. In their report, the Toyota Yaris Hatchback with manual transmission had the lowest overall price per mpg, but did not make the list because of its overall test score. The list of 2008 cars with the best price per mpg is:(in order of price per mpg)Source: Consumer Reports July 2008 Honda Fit Sport (manual transmission) - 34 mpg - $464 Price per mpg Honda Fit - 32 mpg - $476 Price per mpg Toyota Prius - 44 mpg - $540 Price per mpg Mazda 3i (manual transmission) - 30 mpg - $576 Price per mpg Toyota Prius Touring - 42 mpg - $591 Price per mpg Nissan Versa - 28 mpg - $596 Price per mpg Honda Civic Hybrid - 37 mpg $605 Price per mpg Honda Civic EX (manual transmission) - 31 mpg - $607 Price per mpg Hyundai Elantra GLS - 27 mpg - $650 Price per mpg Scion tC - 26 mpg - $658 Price per mpg If you are looking to buy a car with great gas mileage be sure to check the list above. Just because a car gets the best gas mileage doesn't always mean it is the cheapest in the long run. Most hybrids take 7-8 years before they give you a return on your investment and by that time the warranties are starting to run out and the car batteries, etc may need repaired or replaced which will cost you in the long run. Tires Can Help you Save Gas Don't overlook your tires on a vehicle when it comes to saving gas either. Studies have shown that under-inflated tires require more energy to make them roll across the ground thus using more gasoline. Check your tire pressure regularly and use the vehicle manufacturer's recommended pressure. This figure is usually found on the inside of the door jamb, do not use the maximum recommended pressure on the outside while of the tire as this may not be accurate for your particular vehicle. If you are in the market for new tires for you car or truck you should consider a model with low rolling resistance. Rolling resistance is basically how easily the tire rolls across the ground. Consumer reports show a 1 to 2 mpg difference between the best and worst replacement tires. By choosing the right tires and keeping the air pressure at the appropriate level you can save up to $100 a year at today's current gas prices.

Survive Record High Gas Prices : New hybrid cars 2009 review
Survive Record High Gas Prices
by Blake Hygate
With gas prices now at record highs in the United States it has become more important than ever for drivers to try to conserve fuel. For years environmentalists have warned that this day would come. Not only is excessive fuel use bad for the environment it is also very costly. Keeping these two factors in mind, consumers are looking for ways to reduce their fuel consumption. Many have turned to buying small, economical cars as a way to combat rising gas prices. Many US automakers have begun to step up production of small cars which have fuel consumption around 40mpg, which if you drive quite a bit can still be somewhat costly to own. Record high fuel and insurance costs have made it very expensive to own a car of any kind. So what is the alternative to owning a car? You could move closer to your job and walk, but this may not be feasible. If you work in a downtown location such as Manhattan, rentals and housing prices are very expensive. Another option would be to use public transit. Public transit is great in some cities and other cities have major issues with public transit. Unfortunately given the distance that many drive to work, public transit may be a very slow option. I once interviewed for a position where in order to get to work, I would have to walk a fair distance to the bus stop, ride the bus for 15 minutes to the subway station. Then I would ride the subway for 30 minutes at which point I would exit the subway and get onto another bus. I just could not imagine doing this everyday! An increasingly popular way to save money on fuel is to purchase a motor scooter. For years the environmental or budget conscious driver have used motor scooters extensively. Not only are they economical, but in recent years have become a trendy transportation option. At almost 100 mpg, they can save literally thousands on fuel costs. The most popular are Vespa scooters or Honda scooters. Some slightly less popular are Suzuki scooters. As of the past few years we have even saw the entrance of a few less expensive models entering the marketplace. Wildfire scooters can be purchased for less than $1000! If you are in a position where you need to save money on fuel, you should consider the purchase of a motor scooter. Environmental consciousness, budget saving and trendy; Motor scooters are a hot commodity today.

Japanese automaker Subaru now releases the details of its new model that will enter the super mini segment in the European market. Equipped with a wide range of features, high performance and fuel efficient powertrain, the Subaru's super mini model called the Justy will roll out in European dealerships carrying a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of only 8,495 British Pounds.
The Subaru Justy super mini features a three-cylinder 1.0 litre twin-overhead camshaft petrol engine under its hood. This power unit is capable of pumping out 69.3 PS at 6,000 rpm and 69.3 lb ft of torque at 3,600 rpm, allowing the super mini to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 13.5 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 100 mph. The 1.0 litre engine offers an impressive fuel economy for consumers, as it achieves 64.2 mpg Extra Urban. In addition, the Subaru Justy's engine offers very low harmful exhaust emissions of only 118 grams per kilometer. European consumers can also enjoy numerous benefits with this new super mini model like the five-year/60,000 mile warranty backed by five-years’ UK and European roadside assistance.
Lawrence Good, Subaru (UK) Limited Managing Director said: “Everyone is very enthusiastic about the new Justy as it is will appeal to environmentally-conscious motorists and those seeking ultra-low running costs. Subaru dealers enjoy strong customer loyalty and the new Justy gives them a much-needed entry-level car to sell to both existing customers and new prospects.”
On the other technical side, the new Subaru Justy is equipped with a European-tuned chassis including a long suspension-travel for a smooth ride. Anti-roll bars are also included to provide agile handling for the vehicle. These roll bars are located at the front and rear of the vehicle combined with firm damping. The front suspensions are made of MacPherson struts while the rear suspension features a torsion bar with separate coil springs. Other technical feats and systems include power steering, advanced braking system featuring anti-lock ventilated front discs, rear drums (ABS), and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD).
